Why our Spaces Are Vital

Over the last decade, Mount Sinai has grown quickly to accommodate the millions of patient encounters that take place across our hospitals, emergency departments, ORs, clinics, and other facilities. Our locations also bring teams of physicians and scientists together to solve some of the most complex medical problems.

No matter the nature of the interaction—from a cancer check-up, heart surgery, or trip to the emergency department to the birth of a new baby or integrative women's health care visit—these spaces are where we care for patients with expertise and compassion. They are where we make the scientific breakthroughs that transform tomorrow's medicine. They are the spaces where we give people their lives back and make discoveries that will change the lives of future generations. Our spaces are vital, and philanthropic support is vitally important to ensure they reflect the excellence we deliver in our clinical care and research enterprise.

Our Evolving Spaces

Key capital projects across Mount Sinai's broad footprint in New York City represent our vision for the future of research, technology, and compassionate care.  Philanthropy accelerates vital renovations and building projects across the health system, enhancing patient care and accelerating scientific discoveries through generosity.

Thoughtful Spaces Matter

A lactation room is more than just a place to pump.  For parents who choose to breastfeed, it is a place to take a necessary break from the bedside while continuing to support their baby’s health and development. Each year, approximately 1,000 NICU parents utilize this space.

Small acts, big impact

With gifts ranging from just a penny to an astonishing $1,000 donation—85,000 customers of Madrag stores supported Kravis Children's Hospital, raising a total of $47,600. With an average gift of $0.56 rounding up purchases at the register, it was a testament to the power of community and the profound impact of small acts of kindness.

Kravis Children's Hospital

Mount Sinai has been a leader in caring for children and adolescents for more than 130 years, since Abraham Jacobi, MD, founded the first pediatric department within a hospital in New York City in 1878. We continue that distinguished tradition of excellence at our Mount Sinai Kravis Children’s Hospital, with an ambitious capital campaign to reinvent the spaces and experience of our youngest patients and their families.
