Champion Your Cause
Creating a fundraiser is one of the best ways you can support a person, cause, and community you care about—and make a difference in the lives of countless others by supporting research and compassionate care at Mount Sinai. We're inspired and grateful for the volunteer fundraisers who set a race goal with Mount Sinai in mind, opt-out of presents on a gift-giving occasion in lieu of donations, or simply rally their network to give to their personal page.

All registered fundraising events have a customizable page with your event details and where your friends and family can make their donations. The page can tell your story, share pictures, display the names of your supporters, and show your community the progress to your fundraising goal.
We're here to help with setting up your page and more. Contact us at giving [at] mountsinai.org (giving[at]mountsinai[dot]org) or start your page here.
Set measurable goals.
Set a budget, record all expenses, and ensure your fundraising goal is realistic and attainable. Your network will be inspired to contribute when they see their support advancing both a worthwhile cause and your personal fundraising target.
Make it personal.
Remember, people give to people so share the inspiration behind your event. A personal story will help potential donors connect to your event and make them more likely to participate. Your story, a video, or photos can go on your fundraising page and let your donors know why their support is important to you.
Publicize and promote.
Contact us for our templates, sample language, and toolkits on how to spread the word about your event through flyers, email, social media, press releases, and more. The more your reach out in different ways, the more your fundraiser will succeed.
Businesses can donate, too.
Engage local businesses by asking them to sponsor or help underwrite your event. Offer them recognition to spread the word about the good they’re doing in the community. If they can’t contribute cash, ask companies for in-kind donations that you can use to thank your participants.
Be rigorous about reminders.
Send frequent updates to your network on the event’s progress, and include information on how to donate. Using key moments such as awareness days or milestone deadlines can help motivate your community to take action. It also doesn't hurt to ask people to give more than once.
Double your impact.
Remind your donors that their company may have a matching gifts program. It’s an easy way for them to double, or sometimes triple, the size of their gift.
