In 2025, Team IBDKids celebrated its 20th year of participation, proudly earning the distinction of being one of the longest-running charity teams in the New York City Marathon's history. Founded by Dr. Keith Benkov, a renowned pediatric gastroenterologist responsible for the development of the pediatric IBD center at Mount Sinai, the team has made a significant impact in the fight against inflammatory bowel disease. Dr. Benkov's journey began when he ran his first marathon during medical school at Mount Sinai in 1978.

The Mount Sinai Adolescent Health Center (AHC) was established in 1968 as New York’s first primary care program specifically for teens’ health needs. In the decades since, it has grown to become a model of excellence in adolescent health care nationally and worldwide, providing comprehensive medical, mental health, and reproductive health services to more than 8,000 young people annually—at no cost to patients.

“To make a profound impact on the vast needs of those on the spectrum.” This simple statement represents the core mission of the Seaver Autism Center for Research and Treatment at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Since its founding in 1993 through the generosity of the Beatrice and Samuel A. Seaver Foundation, the Seaver Center has evolved into a world-renowned institution, recognized for its “genetics-first” approach, groundbreaking discoveries, and clinical trials, significantly contributing to the understanding and treatment of autism.

Mount Sinai CARES (Comprehensive Adolescent Rehabilitation and Education Services) recently received a $1 million grant from The Tow Foundation’s 2025 Innovation Fund. This transformational gift will support care for adolescents with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders across clinical, school, and community settings.
